Finding the silver lining in quarantine, a few Board members had the chance to interview Nobel Laureate and Stanford Professor Myron Scholes in our first ever virtual speaker event open to the UChicago community. Among the topics discussed were the unintended consequences of the Black-Scholes model, the passivity of the money management industry, and Covid-19 concerns.

Amir Sufi, Bruce Lindsay Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the Booth School of Business, claims that expansions in credit supply, operating primarily through household demand, have been an important driver of business cycles.
Valentine's Day Fundraiser

Taking advantage of Chicago's brutal winters, Promontory members tabled in Cobb Hall and sold V-day themed hot chocolate, vanilla chai lattes, and chocolate truffles for its very first club fundraiser. Fun stickers and designs as well as whipped cream were included!
Undergraduate Women in Finance

We teamed up with other finance-focused RSOs on campus to give an overview of careers in finance, and to talk about our organizations. Following the presentations was a networking session where attendees got to chat with and meet representatives from each RSO to hear about their experiences.

At the end of each quarter, Promontory Investment Research holds a launch party to celebrate their hard-work and to distribute the quarterly publication to the campus community. Everyone is welcome to attend and chat with Promontory Research Analysts. Last quarter, McDonalds was also served. Looking forward to Winter 2019!
