Q: When do you recruit new members?
A: We currently recruit in Autumn and Winter Quarter.
Q: What do you look for in a successful applicant?
A: We’re looking for intelligent, enthusiastic, and hardworking 1st and 2nd years who are willing to commit and dedicate to our organization and who believe in the values our club represents. EDIT: Starting Fall 2020 we will only recruit students for New Recruit (NR) positions. This is due to our belief that community is a large part of our RSO mission, and building a community requires all new members to go through BFT together. As a result, we will no longer accept any applications from 3rd and 4th years or anyone else interested in strictly RA positions.
Q: How many New Recruits are recruited each quarter?
A: We look for about 8-10 new NRs. Our small scale is explained by our efforts to provide quality education through close mentorships and one-on-one sessions, thus forming a tight-knit community. We try our best to select candidates that will contribute the most to the club.
Q: How much of a time commitment should I expect?
A: Research Analysts spend 5 hours on average per week attending meetings and working on Promontory projects.
Q: Can I reapply?
A: Yes! A reapplication is regarded as demonstrated interest in the RSO and we look forward to hearing about all the things you've done since your last application.
Q: Do I need any prior knowledge or any experience in finance?
A: Not at all. Our goal is to enrichen our community with hardworking, smart, and engaging minds who are always willing to contribute. Many students are more than capable of learning the education material we're offering, but we are looking for those who share the aforementioned attributes, who will add value to Promontory, build strong friendships, and deliver our primary mission to the campus community.
